If you think this is big, wait till we hit our anniversary...
As thanks for your continued patronage, myself, Tksama and Schuyfi here at YDP would like to invite you to join in a celebration–for our 100th post! I figured it’s only fair we throw a party (any excuse we can get, right?) and you’re all invited. But a Yuppie Dance Party is unlike most others. If you want a real sense, look back over our past few months:
So if you will, just pretend I’m your man Don Cornelius…and hop on the train. Until next time y’all…PEACE…LOVE…AND SOUUUUUUUL!!!!
In this song I am in the 70’s. The scene starts as I am walking out of prison. My three best friends who I did time for are waiting outside. They toss me the keys to a sick lime green mustang they got me and all hug me. I change into a tailored baby blue suit and a shirt with lapels. I have a lot of chest hair in this scene. We all either have long hair or afro’s. I also put on a pair of red tinted sunglasses
I drive into New York through the Lincoln Tunnel as the sun is setting. We stop at Tavern on the Green for dinner, the Maitre D leads me to a private room in the back. I sit at the head of the table. There are tons of babes at the table. They have big hair or bangs.
Then we go to Studio 54. My group is escorted to the back. Everyone keeps coming up to me. I sit down and the bouncers keep them away. I light up a cigar and contemplate my next move.
FYI: In case you can’t tell this song was also sampled for Miami by Will Smith
In this scene I am a big shot that just got told off by everyone close to him and am starting to realize that I could lose everything. Coincidentally that realization is giving me a valuable life lesson. To demonstrate this fact I walk in slow motion through several abandoned city streets on an early Sunday morning to the water. I find a bench and sit down and think deeply.
I sit on the bench all day as the city comes awake. Here a reverse slow motion technique is used: everyone else is sped up around me. This is symbolic because I am in deep thought but the world is continuing to move quickly around me. I make a look at this point that makes the viewer realize I that I am a changed man and have found myself again.
In this scene I am in Latin America. I am probably a drug dealer in my private plane casually sipping scotch. The plane lands in a private airstrip in Bolivia and I walk down the stairs to a waiting car to drive to my fields and processing facilities. I look particularly awesome walking down the stairs of the plane. In every scene my boys walk behind me holding guns. I have three days of stubble. I am wearing white linen and walk in slow motion through the fields while everyone looks at me in awe. Why? Because I’m a legend and everyone knows it.
This will be a recurring segment on this website and the title pretty much sums it all up. I usually test these songs out when I am walking to work and I try to imagine how awesome I would look if this song were playing in the background.
For my first song I decided to go with
In this song I imagine myself walking in slow motion (obviously) towards the camera (just go with it). I am wearing sunglasses and I get to the street corner. I look left and right and casually light a camel cigarette with my zippo lighter. As I walk past the camera the music keeps playing and the camera continues to roll. Fucking Awesome.
